Review of Sling Blade (1996) by Jeremy E — 29 Jun 2012
A unique variation of Dostoevsky's protagonist in The Idiot, Carl Childers, a rather simple Southern man who was in a state hospital for some seventeen years, evokes his inner-hero when the malignant ways of the world creep in to haunt those he learns to love.
Heartfelt, engaging, intriguing, Sling Blade is a story that undoubtedly contributes to the canon of Southern folklore.
