Review of Sling Blade (1996) by Spencer B — 31 Jul 2010
Great acting and direction by Thorton. Dwight Yoakam also has a great performace as an abusive father. The movie revolves around Karl Childers (Thorton), who was incarcerated in his childhood for murding his mother and her boyfriend.
He's released later on in life, and he befriends a young boy, and his family (The boy's 'father figure' is extremely abusive to both the Mother, and the Son), eventually he moves into their garage.
The movie is slow, but suspenseful, it has a great twist at the end.
