Review of Sling Blade (1996) by Jeffrey D — 11 Aug 2010
It doesn't blow you away, but you have to appreciate the skill and effort used in making this movie. Billy Bob Thornton wrote a solid script that was at times powerful, touching, and engaging. The actors he directed put together one of the best group performances I've seen, including some of the best child acting probably ever.
Thornton masterfully crafted the main character Karl Childers through his writing and portrayal of him. It's hard to watch this movie and say you didn't like it.
