Review of Sling Blade (1996) by Joe N — 26 Dec 2010
3 out of 5 stars. Sling Blade is a drama about a man named Karl (Billy Bob Thornton) who has mental challenges. Karl was institutionalized since the age of 12 for killing his mother and a man he found sleeping with her.
During Karl's transition back into society, he struggles, but does manage to meet and befriend a 12 year old boy named Frank. Karl is allowed to stay at Frank's house in the garage with his mother's permission.
However, there are complications as Frank's mother Linda has an abusive boyfriend. While this movie is interesting overall, and Billy Bob Thornton did an excellent job in his acting role, I found the majority of this film to be quite slow moving.
