Though it has two powerhouse performances from Caine and Law, and I do like the Alfie VS Alfie mentality of the movie. Brannaugh's pedestrian direction and Harold Pinter's script which monkeys around the classic Shaffer play (and original film) so much that it comes across as just plain sadist and not a "game" anymore.
A disappointment.
