Review of Sleuth (2007) by Jamie C — 16 Feb 2009
A change of roles for Caine as he now plays the writer, after playing the now Jude Laws role in the 1972 original. I can't compare as I have never seen it. One to watch I think though.
This movie seems to want to be something its not, it relies too much on showing off, trying to be something it isn't. It tries to be slick, witty and though for some parts it is, mostly its a poor dialogue, and some pretty feeble performances. Hoping its audience are stupid, and easily fooled.
If you didnt notice that was Jude Law as soon as he knocks the door and says his name, you may very well be slow enough to like this movie.
Opening few scenes are the best, its just downhill from there on.
