Review of Sleuth (2007) by Abd Al Rahman M — 29 Jul 2009
A very strong start - Branagh's prowling direction, Pinter's trademark stylised dialogue - soon gives way to a stodgy, absurdist and muddled storyline that sees Law frantically hamming it up in a deluded attempt to match Caine at his finest.
I dropped off to sleep after an hour, watched the ending without noticing I'd just woken up, realised during the credits that I must have just woken up, considered rewinding to watch the bit I'd missed, and then decided I really didn't care.
