Review of Sleuth (2007) by Ian M — 05 Feb 2010
Originally a play so no surprise it comes across as very dialogue heavy but luckily the dialogue is entertaining as you would expect from Pinter. Having seen the original, although a long time ago, I wonder what people who did not know the story thought of it as I believe there were a few forced elements which did not really fit.
Also there is just something about Jude Law, the same goes for Clive Owen, that irks me about their acting style and detracts from my viewing enjoyment. Another thing that bothered me is that in the first act it seemed that to make the scenes more interesting every new battle of dialogue had to involve a new piece of set design.
Overall if you have not seen the original then it is worth watching, if you have then I would not bother unless you have nothing better to do, like myself.
