Review of Sleuth (2007) by Mike S — 02 Sep 2008
A film not as good as the original but a decent film none the less. Michael Caine is great as always but what is it with Jude Law's fixation on Michael Caine films? First he remakes Alfie and now Sleuth.
What's he going to remake next, The Italian Job? He was the one major problem with the film. He is not a very good actor. Especially one two replay the Academy Award nominated role Michael Caine played 35 years earlier.
If they had gotten a better actor to play him, the film might have worked completely. Another problem with the film is that it just felt like a summary compared to the original. It is a whole hour shorter.
That is a lot of things to be cut out of that script. It was a decent film but it was a total miss to what they thought they were making.
