Review of Sleuth (2007) by Meri - — 10 Aug 2010
What made the 1972 adaptation of the play so great was that on top of it being a great cat and mouse game, it was also ruthlessly funny and had such a wonderful wit. This version is just so dark and humorless.
I don't think that Pinter's adaptation of the script works; its pretentious and makes no sense. Branagh's direction is equally muddled. Do yourself a favor and just watch the 1972 version.
