Review of Sleepy Hollow (1999) by Skyler I — 14 Jun 2011
I found Sleepy Hollow to be a rather dull film, which is quite unfortunate because I'm a huge fan of the Burton/Depp combo. However, that's not to say the film's entirely unentertaining. It's visually beautiful, and every shot is dripping with atmosphere.
Depp plays the character Ichabod Crane well, and Danny Elfman's score is tenaciously good, always complementing the events on screen perfectly. But a few moments in the film such as Ichabod's childhood flashbacks seem out of place and unnecessary, especially when considering the films drawn-out pace.
It was a good film, just not a spectacular one.
