Review of Sleepwalk with Me (2012) by George H — 21 Sep 2012
I've heard some of Birbiglia's stand-up and it was funny enough but not "stand-out-funny", or "tell-your friend-they-absolutely-have-to-listen-to-this-dude-funny", but this film provides context (from Birbiglia's personal experiences) to a young comedian's journey from barely surviving open mic nights to finding the comedy/tragedy of his personal life and relationship with his girlfriend (who is the only good thing that he has going for him) and then finally finding his voice and expressing that organically so that he's finally able to make a connection with his audience was entertaining, endearing and even heart-rending.
Def worth a Redbox or Netflix rental. Prease to enjoy.
