I don't know how this movie will play with those who have not heard the original stand up routine. However, as a fan of Birbiglia this movie was an absolute treat. From opening scene to ending credits the stand up routine I love so much came to life. I have to admit that I made little squeee noises when the La Quinta Inn came on screen and Mike was on the phone debating the correct pronunciation.

Again, I don't know how it stands on it's own. But as an adaptation of Birbiglia's comedy it's a real treat.
