Review of Sleepwalk with Me (2012) by Alex M — 14 Jul 2013
This is a great little independent film, and definitely one you want to watch with family or friends. I hadn't been exposed to any of the actors before, but really thought each performance was spot on.
Mike Birbiglia really captured a great character here, although I'm sure the fact that he directed the film made his performance easier to pull off in some respects. Speaking of direction, I thought this really struck a great balance between drama and comedy, and the movie never overstayed its welcome.
Yes, it's much shorter than the average comedy, but it rarely ever drags and none of the scenes feel forced. I have to say, though, while nothing feels forced, the dream sequences are a little odd, but they're dreams, so I can't really complain (my own dreams can get pretty wacky too).
Overall, Sleepwalk with Me hits a lot of high notes, and it gets even more points for winning over me without any huge stars in the cast.
