Review of Sleepless (2001) by Aleksander S — 09 Jul 2007
A pretty good giallo from Argento. Not as great as he's older stuff, but still a pretty interesting piece of murder mystery. When you look at the murder scenes here you can see that Argento hasn't got any milder over the years.
There are some pretty detailed gruesome death scenes to be found. There's still a lot to be found of Argento's style in the movie. The use of camerawork reminds me much of his earlier work and Goblin is back doing unfortunately their last soundtrack, but still a pretty damn good one.
The movie isn't flawless as there are many plot holes to be found, and the english dubbed dialogues doesn't always translate well from the italian language. The star of the movie is Max von Sydow and he can still pull through an excellent performance after all these years as an actor.
Not among Argento's best movies, but still pretty good.
