Review of Sleeping with the Enemy (1991) by James S — 27 May 2008
Daftish thriller that can'e decide if it wants to be a harrowing tale of spousal abuse and escape or a romatic tale in which Julia Roberts prances about with a guy with a beard trying on silly costumes.
Ultimately it fails at being both. You don;t believe the Bergin/Roberts marriage to begin with and as that doesn't work, consequently the rest doesn't either.
Aside from a tension cranking finale there is little to reccommend here.
