Sleeping Beauty seems to want to be some kind of modern twist on Belle de Jour..
It has a rather dissociated beautiful lead taking part on random sex acts and has the same claustrophobic atmosphere, but frankly, it's not good enough.
Some parts of it are simply unexplained, some aretotally inexplicable. The much quoted line about how our heroine must match her lipstick to her labia seems rather undermined by the fact she has clothes on, albeit rather ordinary white knickers whilst the other "silver service" waitresses all wear strappy black outfits with no knickers at all.
Her ability to cry whilst watching her friend die but prefer to get HIM to cuddle HER instead of calling an ambulance seems typical.
If the film interned to show a young woman who has come adrift from any involvement in life it actually succeeds in having that effect on the audience.
