Review of Sleeping Beauty (2011) by Richard G — 23 May 2012
I know what this movie's going for, that it wants to show the suffering, humiliation and pain that a girl who sells her body goes through. It try's to make us feel bad for the women, and it kinda succeeds, but at the same time the sex is too glorified and well shot to take as something bad.
It feels like a porno sometimes, and I feel it completely abandons it's whole mission it set out to complete. Showing us the bad. The acting was decent and the whole tale was actually pretty well written, and when it succeeds at portraying the suffering I really feel it, and it makes me feel sad for the characters.
But mostly, it's a Sexy Drama that attempted to be good, but fell into the gutter.
