Review of Sleeping Beauty (2011) by Carina O — 26 Oct 2012
What a charmless film. Emily Browning is wasted and I would say exploited in this limp (in every sense of the word) attempt at a version of Story of O. Exploited because there is no grace or point, no moral standpoint for a character to be shown to be exploited in this way.
So it ends up as Emily Brownings nudity (and beauty) being the only titilating interest to be had in this film. It petered out into a cowardly wimper, and her rage and impotent frustration at the end could be, should be, Browning herself at having put herself through this.
