Review of Sleeping Beauty (1959) by Brian S — 24 Jun 2011
Probably the worst of classic Disney. uninspiring from just about every angle. some of the blandest characters ever conceived, writing that's always cheesy and constantly contradicting itself, one so-so song and a bunch of obnoxious choral scoring, and even animation that wasn't all that outstanding.
Maleficent, surprisingly, is one of Disney's more sinister villains, but she's out of place in this movie--she's too scary for the target audience. I enjoy her summoning the powers of hell, but I doubt the 5-year-olds not bored out of their minds by the rest of the movie would.
inappropriate for all ages and almost unbearably dull.
