Review of Sleeping Beauty (1959) by Jard M — 02 Aug 2011
Sleeping Beauty is one of Disney's most famous movies and features arguably the best antagonist in Animated history with Maleficent (I love how evil her name sounds). The movie is for sure a Disney classic however there is one issue I do have.
The climax is supposed to be one of the best climaxes in Disney history but while I do admit, it was intense, it was far too quick. It just kind of happens really quickly and Maleficent being such a great villian deserved more time to dominate.
Still, the movie features some great characters with Flora, Fauna and Merriweather. Aurora, Sleeping Beauty herself is special and despite how cliche it may seem when she meets the Prine, it's still kind of sweet.
There's also some light hearted humour in here too with the manolin player with a slight drinking problem. Overall, Sleeping Beauty has everything you need in a kid's movie, romance, action, a mean villian, a damsel in distress and Prince to save the day.
