Review of Sleepers (1996) by Tanya E — 14 May 2008
Four boys, best of friends, go to a juvenile center for boys for accidentally killing a man with a hot dog vendor. (Another reason to go veg) They get raped and do humiliating things for the guards there and grow up to finally seek their revenge, which is why I just don't really have sympathy for them.
There wasn't enough character personality to each of them first off, like, I couldn't even tell you why they were friends. Brad Pitt is the only definable charcter only because he organizes the revenge and is the leader, but that's about it.
It's not a particularly believable story, but it entertains, I suppose. I wanted more drama, more character development, and felt I was left with some dead characters at the end that I felt nothing for.
I did like the quote, "Hell's Kitchen was a place of innocence ruled by corruption". Very cool. Other than that, an average movie.
