Review of Sleepers (1996) by Jonathan A — 05 Sep 2008
Hell's Kitchen youths in the 60s land in jail, and strike back in court at their oppressive wardens 20 years later. Part period piece, part courtroom drama, along with a great cast, the story is pretty gripping in itself.
This is one of those movies where it's run time blazes by without a hitch. In someone else's hands, this could have been a tepid, melodrama. But director Levinson makes this film exciting and fast-paced.
Great soundtrack and score by John Williams, too.
