Review of Sleepers (1996) by Matthew L — 21 Sep 2008
Well, I don't think the film really explores it's own subject matter of sexual abuse to children. It does in some ways, but they are all shadowed and definitely not the main driving point of the film.
..which is revenge. None of the adult characters are very good except Brad Pitt's and I liked the child actors more in this case. The whole movie should feel very morally complicated and shouldn't force you to choose sides, but it does.
The ending gets VERY cheesy and the only epilogue that I really enjoyed and the only one that meant much of anything was Brad Pitt's. The final line of the film is very effective and very true.
