In all my -- erm, months -- of reviewing movies, I try to avoid using the typical cliche reviewers' phrases. But I gotta use this one, as it's so fantastically true: I fell in love with this movie.

This is only the third Woody Allen movie I have ever seen (after Annie Hall and Bullets Over Broadway), and I LOVE it. This was made before Annie Hall and before Bullets, and way before his mature side took over (Match Point, which I saw only part of).

Sleeper shows a side of Woody Allen I never would have imagined he had: incredible slapstick! Truly amazing comedic performances. I believe, however, that one has to be in a proper mindset when viewing this or any other Woody Allen film (and a love of satire and cynicism helps), and must know this: Woody Allen is.

.. erm, well, weird. But in a totally good way that I love and truly admire. The realistic and humorous takes on life... the cynicism... the love of sex... ah, Woody! I can't recommend this enough! It's so wonderful.

.. and another great thing about this film is just how accessible it is to today's audiences which have come to expect outrageous, wild, and often raunchy humor found in Knocked Up, Hot Fuzz, and Superbad.

If I had a list of "MUST SEE" movies from all of history, Annie Hall would place higher on the list than this silly movie, for sure. But while Annie Hall enjoyed the spotlight and attention for being higher rated, behind the scenes I would be making love to Sleeper in the Orgasmatron :D.
