Review of Sleeper (1973) by Aren B — 09 Jul 2008
Woody Allen spoofs science fiction while paying homage to the likes of Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, and what an excellent combination it makes. An amalgamation of witty banter, zany action, priceless sight gags, and a plot that's so true to sci-fi form you'll swear you've seen this before.
It's brilliance lies not in the fact that it's a spoof, but in the fact that it holds its own with or without the knowledge of what's being mocked.
