Review of Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers (1988) by Matt W — 23 Oct 2007
Without a doubt one of the most astonishing sequels of all time. The original SLEEPAWAY CAMP is utterly unique in that it has as genuinely shocking twist ending. This film still retains the themes of the previous film, but turns the series on its head and into the realms of absurd horror-farce.
But don't be put off - it's perfectly done and genuinely hilarious in places. This is entirely down to Pamela (yeah, Bruce's little sis) Springsteen's brilliantly relaxed performance. It seems almost effortless.
The third film wasn't so good, though still fun. This one gets the balance perfectly and I'd recommend it to anyone PROVIDED you watch the first film first and avoid reading anything about it.
