Review of Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers (1988) by Tim B — 29 Jun 2009

Didn't see this coming. Already it took the direct opposite approach from the original and went campy on our ass. Was it worth it? I would think so. We have the teens in their late 20s, the predictability and the cheap thrills.

Bot for some reason, I found myself digging it. The dialogue was actually quick-witted here and had me laughing a lot. This one also embraced fully what makes a slasher fun, that being TITS and GORE. Boy, did this one have both.

You don't fuck with Angela when you're at camp. She teaches these kids a thing or two about safe sex. Lots of sick stuff here. There's also plenty of female flesh for grabs. I think half of the women rip their tops off at least once in this.

Pamela Spingsteen will either have you laughing your side off or gagging in the disgust. She got me with the former. I think she's hilarious in this. Most of the other actors did adequate. Nothing really stood out directing wise either.

Simpson did I good job I guess, I didn't notice anything significant. Being a slasher, you would think that there's some suspense to be had. You will find ZILCH in that department. It didn't help that there was no suspense or build-up and that most of its done in the daytime.

There's also a part or two that's simply there for filler and takes me out of the movie. But I'm not over-analyzing this one. It's a slasher for the beer lovers, no more, no less. If you're looking for the perfect time waster and can't find "Porky's", this is the next best thing.
