Review of Sleepaway Camp (1983) by Hrodland C — 01 Apr 2008

For the most part, it plays out like your average teenager slasher flick. Everything is pretty decent but generally pretty average. Throw in some bad acting and cheesy dialogue and it's just like something from the 80s.

What really makes this stand out as a worthwhile watch is the ending. DO NOT watch Sleepaway Camp II or III before seeing this, DO NOT read reviews or synopses or ask what happens in the ending. It's pretty easy to guess who the killer is, yes, but there's an added twist in the very last scene. It's absolutely ridiculous, you probably wont see it coming, and the way they film it you will laugh your ass off. It feels like a big ol'practical joke.
