Review of Sleepaway Camp (1983) by Daniel E. M — 05 Jul 2011
A mediocre camp classic that has it's moments of badness that are just too darn funny, but barely holds one's attention from beginning to end. Jonathen Tiersten's Ricky and Felissa Rose's Angela are cousins who attend Sleepaway Camp, returning after years after a family tragedy.
Angela still has yet to get over it, and still remains quiet, and unresponsive to eveyone around her. Some kids are, of course, not sensitive to her feelings, and that's when she goes all Jason V on them.
Cheesy 80's slasher flick has the potential of being a great film, but shoots for the obvious, and is basically a Friday the 13th rip-off, except for the VERY unpredictable climax. Good for a few laughs, and something to maybe check out to pass the time, but it is far from good horror movie entertainment.
