Review of Sleepaway Camp (1983) by Dustin L — 10 Jan 2009
Wow,.
This movie really is pretty genius, isn't it? It starts out like a total rip-off of Friday the 13th, following most of the stereotypes of an early-eighties slasher flick, but those who have seen it in its entirety know that it isn't.
The movie makes you laugh at how bad it seems to be. It loosens you up and gets you comfortable...then it pounces on you with the utterly terrifying imagery of the twist ending.
That ending, that final frame that the movie leaves you with is, to date, the most frightening image I've EVER seen in a horror film. If I'm wrong and there's something more frightening, I don't think I want to see it.
