Apesar de haberse omitido varios detalles, personajes y darle un giro final muy diferente al del libro, el director Jaume Balaguero junto con el autor Alberto Marini logran traspasar a la pantalla grande la esencia del libro sobre todo hacià (C)ndole justicia al personaje principal Cesar (Cillian en el libro) interpretado magistralmente por Luis Tosar.
