Review of Slap Shot (1977) by Aaron T — 03 Oct 2008
Paul Newman commands this film with great authority, doing especially well when he's the odd man out around the Hansons. I've seen enough sports movies in my time that I will lose my lunch the next time I see a film about the underdog team that triumphs over the best team in the universe film.
Fortunately, this is NOT one of those films. This is the anti-sports movie, where they take the losing edge of their game and turn it into part of the gimmick. This movie is so much fun, but it honestly could've benefited so much from having more of the Hansons!!
