Review of Slap Shot (1977) by Brian P — 18 Jun 2009
One of my favorite comedies of all time, ugly 70s fashion and all. I heard the language was controversial in the day but now it isn't that bad. Newman plays a down and out coach who decides to fight dirty and it works.
The attendance goes up and they win some games. When they get the Hanson brothers on the team, the fights become more common and the violence in the movie is done in an over top way. This was one of Newman's best roles and he is great in.
