Even though there's really no plot, this movie still holds your attention. Almost all the people we encounter are interesting and/or amusing, there are a couple scenes that are a little boring though.
Linklater spent a lot of time taking notes on how people really talk, and that paid off. The dialogue is flawlessly natural and realistic. Any movie that has someone trying to sell Madonna's pap smear has my praise.
