Review of Slacker (1990) by Tibor B — 26 Jun 2008
Richard Linklater's first professional film is very much of it's time - it randomly follows a load of bored, mostly unemployed Gen-X bunch of early 20s slackers, eavesdropping on conversations which range from conspiracy theory, mundane smalltalk and philosophical ramblings. There is absolutely no plot other than this, which really makes Linklaters achievement in making this NOT too boring or tedious quite an achievement.
Having said that, you probably have to be a slacker to spend an hour and a half watching a film like this anyway... most others would probably find something better to do!
