Review of Skyline (2010) by Bill R — 02 Jan 2012
CGI specialists the Strause Brothers prove that whilst ambition is good, sometimes it's best to stick ith what you know in their directorial effort with the sci-fi Skyline. A lot of time and effort clearly went into the effects sequences and they do put many more "prestigious" big budget efforts to shame.
Sadly this seems to be where all their energy was focused as otherwise this is poor to average derivative scifi, with unimaginative and unengaging characters, an overambitious mishmash of both alien invasion and Cloverfield-type monster genres with a central concept straight out of the trashiest 50s sci-fi horror which is just unintentionally hilarious when played straight as it seems to be here.
And the less said about the "twist" the better.
