Review of Skyline (2010) by Noah F — 11 Oct 2012
Skyline is a terrible film. It opens with you seeing 5 different production houses putting their name all over this piece of garage. Then we get a wide shot of the CGI city. Only to be teased with a 10 min opening of some crap that didn't really matter. Then we flashback in order to be introduced to our characters and let them develop, because god knows there won't be any development, or character story arcs after this flashback sequence. However, the whole sequence fails to produce any likable characters. You have the cheating husband, the slutty photographer girl (not really sure her role in everything), the LA princess, the moron boyfriend, and the bland/pregnant girlfriend. Then its followed by action beats, with long draw out parts where they argue about what to do.
Overall the special effects/CGI was not terrible. The aliens and explosions I guess were decent enough, but this film had a terrible script. With terrible dialogue, and terrible characters, and overall a bland story without any purpose or resolution. 1 star, never see this film.
