Review of Skyline (2010) by Matthew M — 24 Nov 2011
Let's get this out the way: it is bad. The acting is terrible, the direction unfocused, the plot very uneven and the premise worn. However, it isn't completely bad - the solid special effects, and alright action, do draw you in and, in the end, if you're just looking for a mind-numbing alien invasion film, you'll be happy.
The character development is anything but subtle - take the pregnant woman, for example - and narrative doesn't really make much sense, so I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who watches films for that reason, but I do think that if you, like me, occasionally want a movie you don't have to think about, don't have to pick apart and just want to enjoy for the popcorn entertainment it is, "Skyline" is probably your best bet.
