Review of Skyline (2010) by Loic E — 09 Jan 2012
A bit 'Cloverfield'. a bit 'War Of The Worlds', a bit 'Independance Day' and a bit 'Crap'. Mediocre acting with nothing new plot or direction-wise mean this relatively low budget sci-fi flick plays like a TV series rather than a movie.
Indeed, if it had been chopped into episodes and shown on the small screen I might have enjoyed it more. The ending is ill conceived, what the aliens do with the captive humans makes no sense at all. Some scenes do build tension and there are some decent enough effects - although when a nuked alien spaceship magically rebuilds itself it looks silly rather than scary.
Only bother seeing this if there's nothing else playing you like the look of better.
