Review of Sky High (2005) by Christina G — 09 Jul 2012
It was straight up good fun. Movies like this, are like pop music to the music industry. Its a genre designed to appeal to everyone, not aiming to be life changing art, just to be entertaining. Sky High does so in Spades.
I watched with my nephew, and wasn't just rolling my eyes waiting for it to end and feigning interest for his sake. I was able to be entertained, and willingly. Kurt Russell and Kelly Preston, play their roles with a tongue in cheek corniness, that is just hilarious.
The Kids In The Hall alumni show up in supporting roles to very funny effect, and Linda Carter adds some glamour to the whole proceeding. The young cast is also very good. The girls, both "Even Villain" and "Best Friend Secretly Pining Away" are beautiful and extremely charming, and very good in their respective roles.
Steven Strait and Michael Angarano are fabulous as archenemies come best pals. Strait works the teenage angst like a pro, and Angarano has a sweet dim witted charm, that makes him incredibly lovable and perfect for the good guy leading role.
All in all, I found it very enjoyable.
