Review of Sketches of Frank Gehry (2006) by Bryan V — 30 Nov 2007
I like movies about geniuses. I was magnetically drawn to this movie in Casa Video, I sat down and watched the whole thing in the store then took it home and watched it again. Definately a hot one night stand, or will it be a relationship? The shots of the architecture were good but I wanted a lot more.
Sort a could have done with less of Sydney Pollack, holding the camera and talking about his creative process but sort of liked that too.... I loved the part where they interviewed Frank's therapist and he said that Frank's turning point in therapy and in work was when he started to educate the therapist about his architecture, which led to Frank educating his clients about his architecture instead of seducing them.
This was the turning point from bankrupcy on all levels.....this was definately my aha moment of the film.
