Review of Sixteen Candles (1984) by Mare Q — 08 Feb 2010
SUMMARY.
Teen comedy starring Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, Gedde Watanabe, John Cusack, Joan Cusack and Michael Schoeffling. written and directed by John Hughes.
Sam Baker (Ringwald) has reached a momentous time in her life... she is turning sixteen. so why does it seem like it's just another day? she still looks the same as she did the year before, the guy she is desperately in love with doesn't even know she exists, there is a foreign guy sleeping in her bed, a freshman has her panties and her family is too busy with her sister's upcoming wedding to even remember it's her birthday. happy birthday, Sam! :-/.
MY TAKE.
Classic example of the genius that was John Hughes. the man was a master of storytelling. they just don't make 'em like they used to. ♥.
QUOTEWORTHY.
We have seventy dollars and a pair of girls underpants... we're safe as kittens.
