Review of Sixteen Candles (1984) by Maggie M — 05 Mar 2013
Sixteen Candles, a hilarious coming of age story, starring Molly Ringwald, features a girls who's sixteenth birthday is forgotten by her family, because of his sister's wedding, which happens to be the next day.
This comedy was directed by John Hughes and goes away from the 80's sex filled films and focuses on the high school experience. However, the PG 13 rating had not been utilized when this film was rated so the PG rating, put there in order for its targeted audience members could see it, is very loose.
This movie shows bare breasts, uses foul language, including the "f-word", and exhibits the drinking of alcoholic beverages. Overall this movie is a fun filled comedy that allows teenagers to relate with the high school experience, while also incorporating a hopeful love story.
This movie also features classic comedy scenes, such as the high school party getting out of control, the Geek selling peeks at Molly's underwear, and her grandparents yelling, "Look! She's finally got her boobies!".
