Review of Sixteen Candles (1984) by Chris W — 15 Apr 2013
As always John Hughes presents teenage dilemma in a hilarious, made-for-the-ages style.
In Sixteen Candles, the coveted "Sweet Sixteen" birthday as a girls right-of-passage is addressed through the eyes of main star Molly Ringwald. While some themes are difficult for the male viewer to fully understand; the high school crush, fitting in, losing virginity, and the geek vs cool debate resonate for all.
I loved this movie for its humour and ability to put me back in time and reflect on who I was and what I've become.
