Review of Sixteen Candles (1984) by Tynan P — 23 Apr 2012
I've seen this several times over the years. The first time was when it was first released, when it was just another fun movie. Now, I see it as an iconic representation of a particular moment. So much that was "invisible" about it when I first saw it---the things that were so unremarkable they didn't even register, like hair styles and language---are what bring that time back to life.
This time, I was also really struck by Anthony Michael Hall's acting. It makes a lot more sense to me now why he's still an actor. (Though, wow, has he changed.).
