Sisters, much like pretty much every other comedy, will have mixed opinions. Comedies are more subjective than any other genre and Sisters is no different. A lot of the jokes hit but a lot don't hit. It's really just a matter of you liking Amy Poehler and Tina Fey's style of comedy. From their memorable stints hosting the globes to their time on SNL I've loved their chemistry. So after waiting weeks because I was off seeing Star Wars 6 times, I decided it was time to check out Sisters.

For the most part, Sisters is a comedy hit. Perhaps I'm only saying that because we just don't get many good comedies these days. When one comes along that makes me laugh just a little bit, I think it's worth noting. By far the best part of Sisters, is in fact the sisters themselves, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on screen together. It's no surprise, but their chemistry and ability to balance each other out throughout each joke was refreshing. Sisters also has a surprising amount of depth to its lead characters. It has its fair share of raunchy humor, but at times Sisters veers more into a comedy-drama than I expected.

That's not to say there isn't outrageously stupid moments, there are. Some are funny, some really fall flat. The problem is that the films length is rather long for a straight comedy, especially when the film revolves around one night, and one party. Poehler and Fey play both sides to their characters well, but I enjoyed watching the struggles the two sisters had in their real lives more than their struggles during this ridiculous party on the last weekend they own their childhood home.

The entire party, which lasts just under an hour of screen time, gets to be a little long in the tooth as some of the same gags are rehashed a few times. With that said, I liked where the characters arcs went, it just took too much time to get there. With one more re-write and maybe one of several SNL alums' side stories cut, Sisters could have been comedy gold, which is so disappointingly rare these days.

+Dramatic elements surprisingly work.

+Some really funny gags.

+Some great cameos.

-One too many side stories.

-Lengthy.

-Party didn't need to be THAT crazy.
