And another Tina Fey/Amy Poehler comedy that doesn't seem to capture their great dynamic together with great material to match like on the small screen, not for failure for trying. They are saddled unfortunately with the Animal House/Gross out style that seems to be all the rage since the Knocked Up/Bridemaids comedies became all the rage which seems to be beneath them although they do seem game during the proceedings, especially when the films main house party begins about an hour in, which happens to be when the laughs do start landing.

But until that point, you don't seem to really connect with either of the characters since the screen personas don't really match up as well with the actresses themselves it seems to make the journey truely impactful.

Which is unfortunate since the actresses are really growing on me through 30 Rock, SNL and Inside Out. Also interesting that one of the other SNL players who played Rob Ford in a couple of sketches here doing his best John Belushi impression which again brings the Animal House thoughts to the front as opposed to letting the film be its own thing.

Meh just a wannabe counter program for when the Force Awakens came out in December.
