Review of Sisters (1973) by Alex S — 28 Sep 2007
After watching this movie, it is oddly appropriate that I would be split on what score I should give out. A woman thinks she witnesses another woman murder a man but the attacker denies it completely. The next thing you know, the woman who may have seen something investigates (she just happens to be a reporter) and tales of Siamese twins and mental institutions follow.
Ultimately, this closes very weakly. After a strong start and some amazingly cool scenes that split the frame into two different events, this film nearly falls on its face. Yeah, there are some disturbing stories and images (this is a De Palma film, you know) but then what? I may be being a bit harsh here but this movie really failed to leave a lasting impression in my memory.
A good film with some great ideas and techniques that gets slowed down by a weak finish.
