Review of Sisters (1973) by David K — 26 Jul 2008
A straight up homage to Hitchock, "Sisters" from Brian DePalma, never forgets its influence. However, to come out in the early 70's, when most American films were personal and raw, this one stands out as basically escapist.
"Sisters" proves that thrillers made in the old Hollywood style can still be effective. That's where the genius is in this film. Brian DePalma doesn't just reference Hitchcock, but he uses that style to create something unique and original and brilliantly entertaining.
